Danny Smith

Knowledge and experience are the foundation of the services that Danny offers. He has years of experience in marketing and client relations and also understands the financial and technical elements of successful transactions. Dr. Smith's formal education includes degrees in several branches of engineering. His professional career began working for the Governor of Texas where he was director of an office dealing with complex nuclear engineering issues. That work was followed by years of engineering consulting culminating in establishing his own consulting firm. That experience has taught him how to assess accurately opportunities and close them quickly and efficiently. Danny also understands the practical side of residential construction. He comes from a family with a long history in construction with his brother, father, uncle, and grandfather having successful careers in the field. He served as the general contractor for the remodeling of several of his own homes and has also worked on development of sophisticated equipment and processes for building inspection. He currently resides in a colonial era home in Old Town Alexandria with his wife of 45 years. The home has been in the family for over 50 years. Living in this historic area kindled a fascination in the architectural and cultural past of Virginia. Danny has furthered his knowledge of local history with past service as the President of the Gadsby's Tavern Museum Society, Vice Chairman of the George Washington Birthday Celebration Committee, and current service on the Historic Alexandria Resources Commission. His knowledge of the history of Northern Virginia as well as his appreciation of the contemporary overlay of today's culture and architecture are ideally suited to effective home marketing as well as evaluation of current listings.
