The Wortley Hotel holds the distinction of being at the heart of the Lincoln County War and the historical ‘Billy the Kid legend’.
Located opposite the courthouse, the Wortley began serving meals and providing overnight accommodations to travelers, judges, lawyers, lawmen and in 1874.
In 1881, prior to killing Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett purchased the Wortley for $275.
While no one has been gunned down in the hotel for100 years, we still offer
Seven Antique Guest Rooms, Dining Room, Bar and Fully Equipped Commercial Kitchen.
